Baltimore Orioles mid season review

We have already discussed the fact that the Baltimore

Orioles fired Manger Dave Trembley, and that is never a good indication that things are not on the right path. From the four other teams in the AL East there is a tremendous drop off, the fourth place Toronto Blue Jays are six games back of the division lead, the Orioles in fifth sit 22 games back. Under Trembley they were 15-39, under interim manger Juan Samuel they are 8-13. All together they are 23-52. Not what their fans were expecting this year.

Baltimore Orioles trade for Millwood

The Baltimore Orioles made a strong move to solidify their starting rotation, and get a mentor for the young arms in their organization. In return for Kevin Millwood, the Orioles sent the Texas Rangers reliever Chris Ray, and a player to be named later. The sweetest part of this deal is Texas is sending cash to Baltimore to off set some of Millwood’s 12 million dollar salary.

2009 MLB seasoin in review: Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles are a bad baseball organization, and a bad baseball team. A new day was supposed to arrive two years ago when Andy McPhail came to town in 2007. McPhail was the architect of the 1987 and 1991 Minnesota Twins World Champions but, so far he has failed to help rebuild the Orioles. Given that the play in the AL east with the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Tampa Bay Rays life is a little tough on them, but beyond Nick Markakis this is a roster pretty devoid of Major League talent.
