I had previously reported that a new arena football league was in the works, and now thanks to our friends at profootballtalk.com I can report that the NFL network will air AF1 games. It looks like the plan is to air arena games on Friday night on the NFL network beginning this April.
This makes a lot of sense as the NFL network needs more live football to make it competitive, and the new Arena league needs a way to reach the arena football fans out there. While some may say that arena football ahs no place, they are very wrong. This version of football has a lot of fans, underscored by the fact that it took a little under a year for a new leagues to pop up after the original Arena Football league closed its doors.
This new league is comprised of teams form the old AFL, the minor league AFL2, and some of the other arena football leagues that have popped up in recent years.
This league will face competition from another new Arena football league, the Indoor Football League, which was created out of the merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football.
