Christian rock band Stryper includes Rocklahoma in 25th anniversary tour

Christian rock band Stryper returns to Oklahoma as part of the Rocklahoma concert in Pryor on July 11th. Their 90 minute set includes classics as well as new work and features a line up of Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, Oz Fox, and Tracy Ferrie.

On tour for their 25th anniversary, Stryper has survived ups and downs, breakups and reunions in the quarter-century they've been rocking for God. The band came together in the 80's when influences such as Van Halen left them wanting for a positive, spiritual message. It was the start of a new genre. Their music and message were well received by fans who, up until then, had little option when it came to faith based music. Eleven albums later, with a new release slated for July 21, 2009, Stryper is a legend with a legacy of opening the door for today's Christan music scene.

Their new album Murder by Pride is currently available as a song-by-song pre-release on iTunes until the album is debuted in its entirety. The music is a tribute to the fans, whose request for "more guitars", "more solos", and "more screams" were taken into account when Michael Sweet was in the studio. The result is a sound that is both true to Stryper's roots and relevant to today's fans.

Murder by Pride returns to the original feel of Stryper's high-energy, guitar-driven testimony. Twenty-five years later and their message is still the same: Salvation Through Redemption, Yielding Peace, Encouragement, and Righteousness.
