December 21, 2012

After working until 2am a few nights ago, I was busy attempting to sleep in as late as possible the next morning. At 10am sharp I awoke to the sound of the door bell clanging away. As I staggered out of bed, I asked myself who could that be on a Sunday morning? I opened the door and surprisingly saw two ladies standing on the porch. The one said, “We would like to help you prepare for the end of the world.” She handed me a piece of paper, but I could not tell what was on it as my vision was still blurry from sleep.

I was barely able to stand, let alone read, as I took the pamphlet, which had a picture of Jesus and others around him. I politely said, “No thanks, I am not worried about how the world will end, I am concerned with dealing with what is going on now. Thank you anyway.” With that I closed the door and went back to bed.

What a way to wake up on a bright and sunny day. What a way to live life—to prepare for the end. That in itself is a bit contradictory I do believe.  All kinds of interesting counterproductive thoughts have been zinging through my head ever since that day in regards to the “End of days” that we are supposedly living in.

December 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar. Many think this is the end of the world. My question is why are people so focused on the end of the world, instead of working on things and making things better to change our course, to change the trajectory of man? Why will we, most likely, go down within the framework of our perceived differences, our continued struggles and our stubborn inability to change or pursue the path of change?

There are many groups out there that keep ringing the bells and drums of doom. My question is why are some so focused on negativity? We make this world the way it is. Events like the one I experienced today can be filed in the category of self fulfilling prophecy.  We are creating the landscape for future events to unfold. We have been in control of our destiny ever since the dawn of our species. We have chosen to walk the path of selfishness and superficiality and now we are reaping the fruits of our ill planted crops.

December 21, 2012 also has been linked to the beginning of the Age of Aquarius. I have also heard that this might be the day of a big shift in consciousness. Perhaps man will finally “wake up” to his higher being on this day? Perhaps we will finally be able to see through our differences, our individual and social selfishness and work towards the common good of every man. But certainly if people keep putting negative energy out there and keep going about living life divided from each other—than the self fulfilling prophecy just might come true. It’s almost as if people want doom and gloom to happen, rather than give up parts of their ego armor and work towards kinship rather than continued dividedness.

I had compassion for the people that came to my door this morning. They are stuck in very frigid beliefs; they are locked in a tiny little box of reality. This box of reality says that only one thing is correct, that only a certain view will save us all. As I have mentioned before we focus on what transcends all religious and spiritual views--those are love and compassion. These things need to be focused on, anything else are just layers upon the cake of truth.

There is a theory out there about the law of attraction. That we attract what we wish for, that we focus on and that which is at the heart of our desires. So if we want drama than it can be attracted. If we want the world to fail, to wind up being destroyed—if enough mindsets are for this than it might be like a snowball down a mountain which could turn into an avalanche. BUT the same can be said of positive thinking and positive karma. If enough of us out there work at attracting the goodness in life, I really believe that good can conquer the negativity in this world. I firmly believe in the potential and goodness of man. We all need to be on the same page together for us to grow to greater heights.  So I am throwing my hat in the ring saying that December 21, 2012 will be the day that a great shift in consciousness happens. I refuse to add into the bitterness of this world and have made a vow to strive to attempt to bring positive change to myself and the world. What about you?

Matt-sorry about that 'wake up' call of yours! I am so on the same page with you, and most spiritual/metaphysical people who believe we experience that which we 'believe'. Or, as one saying I'm particularly fond of goes "Worrying is wishing for what you DONT want". I agree with you, let's focus on the good, let's focus on what we share in common and realize the pettiness of our human differnces that cause so much negativity in the world-that's at least a good first step!

The "good" thing about considering the end of the world is that it can happen. No one is prepared for a calamity. The law of attraction is a luxury in the face of survival and is man's attempt to be a god. When you ponder how to attract good things to yourself you deny your spiritual gifts which are meant to help others. It seeks comfort. The problem with many people today is that they are searching for truth and don't have a clue that it was Jesus who said "I am Truth" Truth has no context and it is the foundation for all life. He lived a narrow life and is the example for all humanity yet we want the broad road and a taste of everything. He didn't live for comfort. There is an end to this world and only Truth will remain along with the people who followed Him. To me the most important words He spoke were "I am the way, the truth, and the life". "No man comes to the Father but through me" Tough words that no one has refuted yet it says there is only one way and its not easy street
