Like a Chicken
Like a chicken leaping, blindly,
Its neck snapped with a twist--
We know a death without dying
And we are strangely kissed.
This mute world that we long to hear
Is joined by One soft voice
That says, "In you I long to dwell--
Please see this is your choice."

beautiful...true.
Gloria Rose,
Thank you for your comment.
This really reminds me of the passage in Deuteronomy, to the effect of: I set before you life and death. Blessing and cursing. Choose life.
Too often we don't understand the choice, we just accept the death we feel in the soul. We don't recognize the kiss that calls us to a different way.
Beautiful, touching poem, thanks for sharing...
Jeanette,
You're welcome. I wrote this poem 11 years ago, in 1999, and when I selected it yesterday from a journal entry, it spoke to me as much yesterday as when I wrote it.
