Have you ever walked into a metaphysical store or place where crystals are located and immediately they grab your attention? Have you wondered why crystals are so captivating? You may not consciously realize it, but you are likely responding to the crystals spiritual essence.
Eckhart Tolle, author of “A New Earth” states:
“Since time immemorial, flowers, crystals, precious stones, and birds have held special significance for the human spirit. Like all life-forms, they are, of course, temporary manifestations of the underlying one Life, one Consciousness. Their special significance and the reason why humans feel such fascination for and affinity with them can be attributed to their ethereal quality.”
Crystals are a wonderful conduit to the divine nature that exists within us and connects us all. Crystals have been attributed with many medicinal, metaphysical, spiritual, and magical qualities. Healers, shamans, priests and spiritual seekers have used crystals and gemstones for thousands of years for adornment, ritual, healing, as talismans, and in ceremonies.
How crystals work
Crystals maintain, change, and manipulate the characteristics of energy to perform a specific task. They contain energy and its specific vibrational frequency creates the crystal's color. We use crystals everyday without our knowledge through quartz watches, computer chips, transistors, clocking devices and more.
Crystals that assist your spiritual development
While all crystals are spiritual in nature and can assist you in your spiritual growth, every crystal has special properties, some of which are better suited for spiritual development. These are crystals that are commonly associated with your crown chakra. Three stones that are beneficial for spiritual development are:
1. Amethyst
Amethyst is a purple stone that has a number of useful properties. It assists with healing compulsive behaviors and addictions of all kinds. Amethyst brings energies of stability, peace, calm, balance, courage and inner strength. Spiritually, amethyst can help open communication with angels, telepathy and other psychic abilities. It is an excellent stone for meditation, dream work, past life work, and can help you more clearly see your path.
2. Quartz
Quartz is a very powerful clear stone with a multitude of uses that include harmonizing and balancing. Although it is associated with the crown chakra, it works well with all chakras. Additionally, quartz enhances energy and thoughts, and purifies on the spiritual, mental, and physical levels. Spiritual, it has been used as a protective stone which helps to perform diagnostic healing, and to communicate with spirits and other worlds.
3. Selenite
Selenite is a stone useful for mental clarity, enhancing mental flexibility and strengthening decisions. It can also assist you in accessing past lives. It is a wonderful tool for removing energy blockages and draining negative energy from your physical body.

Intriguing topic. I keep amethyst near my bed (it's my birth stone)and always wear my gold cross. I enjoy reading a lot and must admit my favorite topics, beside healthy living and life changing foods are bios, religious and spiritual.
