I first learned of this magical technique from Jan Spillner’s New Moon Astrology book. I’ve been doing it for several years now and amazing things have happened in my life.
The two week period between the new moon and the full moon symbolizes a period of growth. That’s why astrologers have always recommended starting new projects and goals on the day of the new moon or shortly thereafter. You can even cut your hair at this time if you want to encourage it to grow longer and faster. Generally speaking, this is the time to be active in the real world by taking steps towards your short or long-term goals.
Conversely, if you want to minimize something you should start to cut back during the two week period between the full moon and new moon. This is because the moon is decreasing in size so this is a good time to release bad habits. This might be the best time to eliminate something from your life, such as a bad relationship. It’s also a time to go inward and think about what you really want to prepare for the next cycle of growth.
Here’s what to do:
- Each month on the new moon (check Jan Spiller’s site for the exact date and time) write up a list of 10 wishes. Don’t write more than 10 wishes or they won’t come true.
- Try to make your wish list within the first eight hours of the new moon. If you miss the first eight hours, you can still make your wish list within the first 48 hours of the new moon.
- Keep a separate notebook just for your new moon wishes.
- Write your list by hand.
- Number and list each wish separately, don’t combine wishes or they won’t come true. For example, instead of :
- I want to easily and effortlessly find myself getting married and becoming self-employed.
you should make two separate wishes such as:
1. I want to easily and effortlessly find myself getting married to the life partner God
chooses for me.
2. I want to easily and effortlessly find myself becoming a freelance journalist.
Date each new moon wish list and go back to review them each month. Check to see which ones have come true. Some wishes take more time to manifest, especially if there is any inner resistance towards this wish. Some of my wishes come true by the next new moon whereas other take more time to manifest.
Look out for signs of development and size each opportunity as it arises. For example, if one of your wishes is to become self-employed you may want to narrow your next wish down to exactly what it is you’d like to do for a living. Then keep your eyes and ears open for any opportunities that come your way. Sometimes we wish for new opportunities and when a door opens we let fear get in the way. When this happens you may need to make additional wishes to “become more confident and courageous” or “to recognize and seize opportunities as they arise.”

I have recently started doing this list with the new moon and look forward to the full moon list as well. I have experienced positive changes in my life as well and I completely see some of the blocks so I have to be specific as to what I ask for. Happy new moon!
I was wondering what should be done with the wishes that you already wrote down on the paper. I don't want to keep all the papers laying around the house. Every new moon I write down more or the same ones that still need to manifest, and not too sure what to do with the rest. I don't want too many energies lying around. Thanks you! Blessed be )0(
I recommend keeping a small journal dedicated solely to new moon wish lists. Then you can look back upon them later in the future. This will help you see how many have come true which will inspire gratitude and faith. As for those you are still working on, this may signal an area of your life which has been neglected and deserves more thoughtful attention. Good Luck to you!
