Celebrate the 4th of July @ Angeline Hawkes' book signing

Authors Chris Fulbright & Angeline Hawkes, ConDFW 2009

Author Angeline Hawkes may not be a name among female horror authors that is as well known as Anne Rice or Laurell K. Hamilton, but the Dallas-based mother and homemaker has been writing stories and getting published since she was a young girl. Despite being a preacher’s daughter, Angeline delves into a variety of dark subjects ranging from fantastic monsters to the man-made kind, vampires and dark ancient beings that wander in the realm of H.P. Lovecraft. To my knowledge she has not added lycanthropes to her repertoire, leaving that subject to her husband, author Chris Fulbright.

The lovely and very friendly Hawkes will be part of the goings-on this year for the Fourth of July events in downtown Wylie, Texas. She can be found signing copies of Symphony for the Forgotten, Frontier Cthulhu, and Beneath the Surface and possibly a few other titles that she has released over the years from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Eerie Books (205 N. Ballard Street, Wylie, TX in the heart of old downtown).

Not only is Eerie the only all-horror bookstore in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, but the only one of its kind in all of Texas. The store, although nor large, is neatly arranged  with shelves of new and used hardcover and softcover books, some graphic novels and trade paperbacks, RPG modules, games, T-shirts, artwork and DVDs - all encompassing the horror field. There will be a lot going on downtown that day and Eerie invited Hawkes back for her second signing since their opening in October of 2008.

Hawkes does not plan on doing a reading of her material but is open to the option if enough fans are there and time permits. Unfortunately, she will not have copies of  her newest title Shades of Blood and Shadow (Dark Regions Press) which is due out around the end of August, although you can preorder the limited edition hardcover from Horror Mall.

Hawkes’ other books can be also be found at Horror Mall, Amazon.com, Shocklines.com (get them before they shut down their bookstore), Barnes & Noble.com and, of course, Hawkes' own website. No author could seemingly exist in this day and age (or should that be night and age?) without a personal site to promote their work and activities.

Speaking of activities, if you have the misfortune of not being able to attend the signing or you simply want the chance to catch Hawkes an additional time to pick up Shades of Blood and Shadow and have a copy personally signed, her upcoming appearances include:

Many of these appearances will more than likely include Fulbright, as well. So it’s like getting two groovy ghoulies for the price of one.
