Rick Warren should repent
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer - Psalm 19:14
Hyperbole: extravagant exaggeration - Merriam-Webster dictionary
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination - Leviticus 18:22
Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you. - Leviticus 11:12
Rick Warren, the controversial choice to give the opening prayer at the inaugural ceremony can’t have it both ways. He has called homosexuals criminals and perverts and now he has praised the choice of Gene Robinson the openly gay Episcopal bishop who will give the invocation at the inaugural opening ceremony at the Sunday afternoon concert on the Mall.
Warren issued a statement praising Obama for selecting Robinson, saying the president-elect "has again demonstrated his genuine commitment to bringing all Americans of goodwill together in search of common ground. I applaud his desire to be the president of every citizen."
The large inaugural audience will allow the Rev. Warren to make a public show of repentance. His cherry picking of scripture to make a political point is often translated into a cultural point by those who hate gay people. So in the name of integrity admit the contradiction and in the spirit of Christian love I suggest the following passage for inclusion in your prayer:
Father God I repent for straying from the path you admonished me to follow in Ephesians 4:15: ...speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Help us to go forward from this day committed to our truth but speaking it only in the spirit of love.
Christians believe that words have power, that God created the heavens and the earth in just six days. But the power of words can build up or it can tear down. It’s time to take the hyperbole out of your witness and demonstrate the courage to love all people in the name of Christ.

The assumption that anyone is sinless enough, or one's own sins are so "small", that you can make a priority out of the sins of others is Blasphemy, pure and simple.
It is disturbing to see the media sleeping with the sexually confused. It appears to be the medias job to champion every type of immortal agent and to destroy the future of America. The next few years under Democratic rule will champion the perverts until even the liberal vomit. The good that is coming out of this is that the normal American can see through the media's perversion and turning them off.
The Bible is clear. No one practicing sex out of marriage can go to heaven. Repent and be saved.
This is just another left leaning press hit piece on Rick Warren. What is so controversial about a Christian minister who opposes gay marriage? The vast majority of pastors share Rick Warren's views. And Rick never called gays "criminals". Be honest!
This is another shameful article with little truth in it and loads of left biased propaganda. Ridiculous.
"Christian" - Who are you saying is "sexually confused?" I know I'm not. And, regarding your statement, "No one practicing sex out of marriage can go to heaven," I guess it's a good thing, then, that I was finally able to marry my spouse of almost 18 years.

Please be careful. Not all Christian sects believe God created the heavens and earth in *literally* six days.
Not all Christians believe that knowledge/logic/science are incompatible with faith.
Not all Christians believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible.
Not all Christians believe that Christianity means having to check your brain at the door.
In short, don't tar all Christians with the same brush. Some Christians, such as myself, hold views remarkably similar to what you've expressed in your article.

I respect your right to believe what may be God's judgement concerning extra-marital sex. The problem comes in the inherent injustice in how our society applies this judgement.
I don't see ballot measures designed to take rights away from heterosexual people who engage in extra-marital sex.
Also, keep in mind that we live in a multi-cultural society, where freedom of religion is respected. This means a need to respect those who hold a belief different from your own. If you want to strengthen America, then fight for the rights of all Americans to make their own moral choices.
Ron,
I don't really care for Rick Warren. But one question I have for you. Did Jesus love all people? He condemned the Pharisees. The new definition of "love" is accept all views. Unfortunately, the Bible doesn't allow that.

Rick Warren is "controversial" for simply upholding the faith delivered to us. But Mr. Robinson who has been a unmitigated disaster for the Episcopal denomination, now the fastest declining, awash in lawsuits is NOT???
To allow someone to swim in what a BBC gay rights reporter recently described as a "sewer of promiscuous sex and drug use" is NOT loving.
TURN YOUR BACK to Warren and kiss the partner of your choice.
LOVE conquers H8
Progressives and gays and lesbians will decide what we accept, and what we DON'T!
