Special Olympian Dream Come True photo:pedrojperez
Andy Miyares is a world record holder Special Olympian swimmer in both the International Paralympic Competition and at the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championship. He is in town preparing for the Special Olympic Summer Games to be held at Towson University.
Andy's dream as a swimmer has been to swim with Michael Phelps, and today that dream came true as he swam at the Meadowbrook Aquatic Center where Phelps spends his time training.
Swimming with Phelps was very exciting for the Florida resident and he said afterwards that he felt very proud of himself.
Getting children involved in the Special Olympics is a great way to encourage them to live their dreams, try new things and attempt feats that many would assume impossible for them. Parents and teachers need to encourage these children to dream big - you never know when your dream may come true and you will have the chance to swim with one of the greatest swimmers in history!
