Waterfall's Spa is a minimalistically decorated, Feng Shui designed, 5,500 square foot spa at the recently opened Hope Lake Lodge & Indoor Waterpark at Green Peak Mountain Resort.  The principles of Feng Shui promote harmony, positive energy flow and tranquility.

The spa features 12 treatment spaces, including a 3 station hair salon with manicure station, a pedicure room with 3 pedicure stations, a balneotherapy room, 5 multi-use treatment rooms, and 2 two-person VIP suites with private shower, fireplace, sauna, dual treatment tables and a two person Trautwein vibrational hydrotherapy tub.

To say that the spa designers at Aspen Spa Management of Fort Lauderdale, Florida have thought of everything is understated. Treatment rooms that connect and interconnect so that guests don't have to enter the hallway between treatments, gentle soy-based waxing services with a creamy consistency that never gets hot enough to burn a client, and treatment rooms equipped with iPod docking stations are just some of the thoughtful design elements.

If you're having a pedicure, you'll be treated to state-of-the-art reclining pedicure thrones with all the bells and whistles - vibration, massage and heat.  You can even get a manicure and pedicure at the same time. Waterfalls Spa uses long wearing natural nail care products by Zoya.

Each treatment room is decked out with ceiling mounted chromotherapy panels that bathe the room in color.  The panels can be fixed on a chosen color that corresponds with the seven chakras, or the colors can rotate through the spectrum.

At check in, you'll be asked to fill out a client questionnaire.  Pretty standard for the spa industry; that is, until you start to reply to some of the not-so-standard questions.  Would you like to have music playing during your treatment?  What type of lubricant do you prefer the therapist to use during your massage (oil, cream/lotion or powder)? What is your preferred draping style during your massage?  For the uninitiated, those draping styles include American (full draping), Modified European, European and Scandinavian (no draping techniques are utilized) - each style offering less coverage during the treatment.  The responses to the questionaire will ensure that the guest is offered the most customized experience possible.

If your treatment room is ready, you'll be led directly there to meet your therapist.  There are no public locker room facilities at Waterfalls Spa; guest comfort and privacy is of the utmost importance.  If your room is occupied, you'll wait in the relaxation lounge until your therapist and treatment area is ready.

Treatment spaces are decorated in nature-inspired chocolate browns and soft green, lending a rustic feel. Hardwood floors are light blonde and plush blankets covering massage tables beg guests to crawl underneath and get cozy for an hour or two.  Valerie Verona, artist and photographer, created nature-inspired photographs exclusively for Waterfalls Spa that complements the serenity of the space.

Waterfalls Spa's Technical Director, Tracie Endelson, is the lead therapist and has worked in partnership with Aspen Spa Management for several years on the project, developing the unique treatments.  Her responsibilities now include staff training and development while keeping the treatment menu fresh and seasonal.

When it was time for my treatment, Tracie led me to one of the two-person treatment suites.  Many of the treatment rooms have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the resort.  I tend to prefer a darker, more cave-like treatment room and was pleased that guests are offered both options. The hydro tub was filling and Tracie instructed me on how to use the features.  Together we selected the color therapy for the room, the music that I would experience through the vibrational effects and the color therapy for the tub itself.  We also choose the bath concentrate that I would soak in during my balneotherpay treatment.  When all the details were settled, I was left to the privacy of my treatment suite to enjoy my soak.

I experienced a 5 Element Aromatherapy Massage (50 Min, $90), an aromatic journey of the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water.  To correspond with each element, Tracie guided me to take deep inhalations of highly concentrated aromatherapy blends from Taocielle that correspond to the five elements. The element of wood, for instance, represents spring and a new beginning, with essential oils of lemon, cypress and rosemary.  Every 10 or 15 minutes, Tracie introduced me to a new element and a new aromatherapy blend incorporated into my massage.

Waterfall's Spa utilizes all natural La Phyto products, chosen to complement the holistic philosophy and the 5 elements represented at the spa.

If your penchant for hydrotherapy still lingers after a soak in one the Trautwein hydro tubs, the resort boasts a state of the art 41,000 square foot indoor waterpark.  The waterpark is for quarter owners and hotel guests only, so book a night or two in one of Hope Lake Lodge's 106 Northwoods style hotel condominium's in a variety of sizes and configurations for group sizes up to 10.  Most units boast a full kitchen, but 3 restaurants are located within the resort if cooking in your gourmet kitchen seems like too much work.  While the waterpark is for guests and owners only, Waterfalls Spa is open to guests and the public.
