Hermosa Beach parent launches a new type of parks and recreation website

When planning a day trip or long road trip with kids, all parents know that pit stops are a necessity. Most parents find that making a stop at a park is a good way to let the kids release some energy, while taking a much needed break. Hermosa Beach mom Lisa Pierse discovered on her first long road trip with her then one-year-old son, that she had a difficult time finding suitable parks to stop at.

“After spending some time on the Internet, we quickly realized that it's not only hard to find parks along the way but it was even harder to find some information on the parks themselves and, most importantly, if they were  even worth the stop,” says Pierse.

There are various state and city run websites that offer information on parks and recreation nationwide. Most parks are also listed on current road maps. But there is no resource that tells parents the current condition, amenities, and overall community reviews of a particular park.

The site allows parents to share their reviews on parks with other parents

Pierse decided she would create a centralized resource for parents who want to know where the nicest, cleanest and safest parks are located in their city and across the USA.
Pierse recently launched Parks2Know.com, which is a website where users submit park locations, add reviews, and photos. The site also contains a section on parenting “Tips & Tricks”, as well as a “Must Haves” section that showcases new products for parents and kids on the move.

“The site has a complete South Bay database which was very important to us since this is our home but we also have other surrounding areas like Culver City, Riverside, Pasadena and Ventura and will soon be completing LA, then SoCal, then nationally. Our hope is that this will be the first truly complete national database on parks. With the generosity of moms and parents and the wisdom of their experience, the site will be a valuable resource for families across America”, explains Pierse.

Pierse feels the website was born out of necessity, after her initial travel experience, however she also hopes to use the site as a tool to help enhance the community experience in the South Bay.

“Because of the gorgeous place we live in with its wonderful weather and beautiful parks, we are trying help parents to break out of their routine and explore their community. I am proud to live in the South Bay and to have built a service that will hopefully benefit other parents of my community and across the nation”, says Pierse.

The site can be found at www.parks2know.com
