First there was BlogHer, the first annual conference for women bloggers founded by journalist and media strategist Lisa Stone, professional and business blogger Elisa Camahort Page, and media consultant Jory Des Jardins in 2005. Then there was Blogging While Brown, the first annual conference for bloggers of color established by attorney and net activist Gina McCauley, founder of What About Our Daughters and Michelle Obama Watch, in 2008. Now there’s Blogalicious.
Blogalicious is the first annual conference for women bloggers of color that will be held on October 9 to October 11 at the W Atlanta – Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia. A dynamic team of D.C. metro area and Florida attorneys affectionately known as Justices Ny, Stacie, and Jonesie created the conference. This trailblazing trio is also the founders of Mama Law blog and Mama Law Media Group, LLC. As you can see, they wear multiple hats as attorneys, bloggers, mamapreneurs, wives, and mothers.

So what’s Blogalicious all about? The Mama Law justices define Blogalicious as “the state of being in which one finds joy in updating one's blog and a blog or blog entry that one finds highly enjoyable.” The conference is marketed as a social gathering celebrating diversity in the blogosphere. Its mission is to gather women bloggers of color and other interested women together to have a weekend of entertaining discussions and extraordinary events.
Blogalicious kicks off with a Friday night of fun that includes a welcome cocktail reception sponsored by “So In Style” by Barbie and Pine Sol on October 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A childcare suite sponsored by Kimberly-Clark, makers of Huggies, will be provided during this time period and throughout the conference to accommodate mommy bloggers. After the reception, Sunkissed Mommy, a Blogalicious sponsor, will host A Girls Night Out with transportation provided by Chevrolet and OnStar.
A wide range of subjects will be discussed during conference sessions. They include social media and the woman of color, social media basics, taking your blog to the next level, cyberstyle and the multicultural blogger, Mom 2.0, the possibilities and pitfalls of being on the Internet, the art of small business blogging, marketing to women of color, hot social media trends, secrets to a successful blog, and blog-life balance. Several D.C. metro area bloggers including Leticia Barr of Tech Savvy Mama, Terri Holley of Creative Blog Solutions, Ronnie Tyler of Black and Married with Kids, and Devra Rennerm of Parentopia will serve as conference presenters.
The keynote speakers are James Andrews, Managing Partner of Everywhere and blogger Karen Walrond of Chookooloonks. Author and blogger Denene Millner of MyBrownBaby will give a book reading during the Sunday brunch event.
During the conference, participants will be able to visit The Exhibitor Hall, engage in lobby chats, and participate in the Get Blogalicious! Fitness Walk sponsored by BlogHer in Piedmont Park. They will also have an opportunity to see a movie screening of "Happily Ever After: A Positive Image of Black Marriage."
