What's with all the Green on Twitter?

Green for a purpose

If you are on twitter you've probably noticed quite a few people with green avatars.

You might have also have seen the trending hashtag topic #iranelection

http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23Iranelection

The green avatars on Twitter are in support and it's become trendy to sport a green tint.

A few of the more notables include CraigNewmark (Craigslist), Joe Scarborough (MSNBC), Steve Case (AOL), Leo Laporte, Tim O'Reilly, and M.C. Hammer!

Not a Photoshop Expert?  That's ok - here's a really easy way to go green.

@arikfr (Arik Fraimovich) created a site that will create a green overlay on your existing avatar with just one click!

His site, appropriately named http://helpiranelection.com/ is quick and simple.  It uses Twitter's OAuth so you don't have to give up your username and password.

IMPORTANT: To go green you'll have to go to the site http://helpiranelection.com/

What I need to do

Show support for the people who fight for democracy at Iran, and change your Twitter avatar to have green overlay (the official color of the movement).

All you need to do is click here and your avatar will be updated and a support Tweet will posted on your behalf ("Show support for #iranelection add green overlay to your Twitter avatar with 1-click - http://helpiranelection.com/").

Please note that this change is permanent until you change your avatar back.
