Google Wave: how to get an invite

Google Wave by Pixelsebi

If you are like me, you are itching to get your hands on an invite to the Google Wave beta.  You probably applied to their beta on the official website, but may have not received your invite yet.  There are still ways you can potentially snag an invite to Google Wave thanks to social media.

Twitter Search is always a great way to snag an invite.  There are several hashtags to watch in your favorite Twitter client, including #googlewave and #googlewaveinvites.  Many people have extras to spare, and are always wanting more followers on Twitter.  You might have to "retweet" someone in order to get one.

There is also a website set up specifically for obtaining a Google Wave beta invite.  GoogleWaveInvites.com allows you to specify whether you are looking for an invite or have invites to spare.  It enables users to connect with each other to share precious access to Google Wave.

FriendFeed's invite channel is a good "old standby" for posting to try to obtain invites.  Right now, there are definitely a lot more people requesting than giving out, however that may change once Google Wave invites start spreading more.

And of course, you can always check out Ebay if you don't mind spending a bit on your invite.  There are many listings available right now, but make sure to use caution and check seller ratings.  Good luck!

An aside: This is my first article as the San Diego Social Media Examiner.  I'm looking forward to having fun posting about web and social media topics here.  Thanks for visiting!
