Rhode Island DOT keeps up with 4th of July traffic on Twitter

Are you heading to the Bristol 4th of July parade this weekend? Perhaps you are headed to a cook-out and have to take your first trip on the newly constructed portion of the Iway? The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (DOT) is on Twitter so you can get instant updates on traffic, accidents and detours. Follow RIDOT at http://twitter.com/RIDOTNews for the latest traffic updates.

The RIDOT has also created a page that gives a "traffic forecast" for the week ahead so you can plan your holiday travel without being surprised by a detour. The travel advisories page covers all areas of the state. There is also a link to keep you notified about "Ozone Alert Days". On these days, all RIPTA (bus) travel in the state is free.
