Welcome to the high stakes world of fashion, where styles are constantly changing and the designers themselves are barley getting by on a mere 2 hours of sleep and increased red bull consumption. In the fashion world, which many don't dare to enter into, 2 Boston based bachelors put it all on the line to pursue their dream of designing one of a kind, vintage t-shirts.
Introducing the J. Newbury brand.
What sets these particular t-shirts apart from all the rest is that they are original, hand drawn artwork, printed on exclusive vintage and chemical free organic cotton. I visited their online store which features their three classic designs including an old school motorcycle, an American Flag with different cocktails replacing the 50 stars and a rock star guitar which has the saying "love that dirty water," printed on it’s side.
These t-shirts are meant to represent and bring society back to the time of a golden era of lifestyle (think Mad Men). Behold J. Newbury's catch phrase, "A Modern Take on Classic Clothing." But there is nothing modern about the designers of the brand. Just head to their lifestyle page on their website to find that they are your classic Boston boys who are living the American dream by doing what they love.
I decided to order a women's small Motorcycle tee. Now, because I study social media, I of course checked out their Twitter and Facebook page. It was well done, complete with constant updates, articles and a video blog to boot. But what impressed me most about J. Newbury was not their social media strategy. Ironically, in the end when I received my t-shirt in the mail, what I found inside my neatly wrapped package (complete with an old-fashioned ribbon) was a hand written note, thanking me for my purchase.
Social media is a great way to connect with your consumers, but what really wins the hearts and minds of consumers always goes back to the classic, traditional means of marketing. J. Newbury hit it right on the money.
