Sounders FC looking for three and four in match number six

Seattle Sounders FC are looking for three points and their fourth victory in their sixth match of the season this Saturday night at Qwest Field against the San Jose Earthquakes.

See SSE's earlie pre-match coverage here (lots of facts) and here (history between the two sides).

Sounders fans last saw the club score 226 minutes of play ago in Toronto, where Seattle also earned its last win, on April 4th. Since then the Green have been fading as the senior club have lost two straight and even the 'reserves' have managed only a loss (to Portland Timbers) and a draw (with the UW Huskies). It's not a long drought, but it has been enough to get fans on the GOALSeattle.com forums a bit antsy and speculative about the choices of formations and starters by head coach Sigi schmid.

Look! A Sounders FC goal celebration. Ah, those were the days...

There is only one way to establish a winning atmosphere and tradition, and of course that is to consistently win matches. The Earthquakes are off to a poor 1-2-2 start. These are the kinds of games that contending clubs win at home. After bolting out 3-0 and being annointed as 2009 MLS Cup contenders, the Sounders have gone about planting seeds of doubt in April as to whether or not those initial takes were warranted. It hasn't worked on the attack and there have been misfortunes on defense.

28,000 fans in the stands and countless thousands more in pubs and on sofas via local TV will be watching. C'mon, Sounders, return the sheen to the Green.
