Greg Roth is rocking the Sounders news, and Sounders fans are keeping up with their club now more than ever after Greg jumped into the role of "Sounders Fan Insider."
Greg has a Facebook Page and a Twitter Page that both help fans link to many of the other Sounders FC fan websites around the internet. For Greg it is all about his love and excitement for the new Seattle Sounders FC and his admiration for all of the 'fan reporters and photographers' that are already covering the new club.
"There is a massive network that his hungry for news and information," says Roth. "Sometimes there is so much Sounders information coming from so many different buckets and sources that it can be hard to manage and get your arms around it. In my humble opinion, I really think the popularity of soccer here has grown because of a breed of fans that are hungry for information from around the world. The typical soccer fan is technically savvy and goes to the internet to get their information as opposed to paper. Fans like me get inside information and news before it breaks through the mainstream press by following fans on the message boards etc. At the same time, I love to get news and info. from credible mainstream news outlets to confirm rumors or things that I hear out on the Blogosphere."
Greg has embraced the suddenly red-hot world of "Twitter" in his efforts to gather Sounders FC news. "Twitter allows you to get information in 140 character sound bites and if I want more background I can click the link and go to the story. It allows me to filter various sources of information and soccer news and keep up on what is going on. It also allows me to share news, commentary, content and discussion with a huge network for soccer fans, coaches, players and news folks. It also allows me to promote and evangelize writers and contributors, like Seattle Soccer Examiner, whose work I really admire and respect."
The Sounders Fan Insider recently gave us an exclusive look inside Qwest Field.
On his Facebook page the Sounders Fan Insider can share more about the life of a local soccer fan. "My Facebook Group page gives me a face. It is another portal where I can post my photo content, have private discussions, post the top soccer news of the day and readers can get to know Greg the person as opposed "Greg" the Twitter guy. Also, it puts a face and personality on the people that follow me as well. Each person that follows me is a person, not a internet handle. They have jobs, families, hobbies, passions. I get to know them and they get to know me and it creates a greater sense of community."
"I decided on the name 'Sounders Fan insider' for a myriad of reasons," says Roth. "The Tacoma News Tribune has Sounder Insider, The team has the Insiders. I chose “Fan Insider” Because I am a fan. I don’t work for the club ( I wouldn’t mind though!) I don’t work for a newspaper. I work for the fans. I provide the fans an insider’s vantage point from the fans' point of view. I try to provide interesting information, content and opinions that they are not going to get from the press or necessarily the club. It's what the fans want to know about the club, the stadium, inside from a fans point of view. It is all about them and providing value to them, being where they are not, being where they may not have time to be and taking them on the journey inside the club. I want the spotlight to shine on the great fans we have here."

I see the picture of the stadium with the green Sounders tarp. It looks good. Why are they not opening that section? Do you know why? It's in the lower bowl and not that far up from the field.
We think that perhaps on opening night that they'll take it down for that match. We'll see...
