Kitsap Pumas Soccer Club are preparing for their first-ever season with scrimmages and training in West Sound. On April 10th the Pumas scrimmaged with the Peninsula College Pirates at North Kitsap High School. See slide show and video below.
The Pumas will play their first league match in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL) on May 2nd against the Spokane Spiders. The next day the Pumas take on the Reds in Yakima. A good start is crucial for Kitsap if they want to qualify for play in the United States Open Cup and possibly advance to face a Major League Soccer club. Four of the early matches double as qualifiers for entry into the tournament.

The Pumas dominated play in their scrimmage with Peninsula, clearly bigger and more skilled than their counterparts. Kitsap had put four goals past the Pirates without an answer when I left the srcimmage. Many of the standouts for the Pumas remain to be announced by the club in the next few weeks. New faces were seen in the back line with a giant 6-5 centerback with a pulled-back ponytail and tall attackers up the middle and at forward. Kitsap awaits league and FIFA clearance to announce their final roster. See a gallery of over 50 Pumas scrimmage photos here.
The Pumas have their own fansite at www.GOALKitsap.com, a part of the GOALSeattle & GOALTacoma network.
