The night was filled the chanting, smoke, the sounds of well-kicked soccer balls, the occasional train passing closely by...and with the cheers of thousands of Sounders fans relishing a chance to get even closer to their club, and see their club get close to another United States Open Cup trophy.

Seattle-3 Chivas USA-1.

Along the sidelines, capturing the plays, emotions and moments for Seattle Soccer Examiner were Rick Morrison and Joseph Armand.

Both of these guys know Starfire well, with its quaint quarters, tight angles and terrible lighting. Both stood for hours trying to get the best shots, to let the match live on through their lenses long after the historic evening faded.

Rick and Joseph have shot matches at Starfire from the time the Sounders were in the United Soccer Leagues. They have captured amazing moments, critical calls, fan reactions of joy and dispair.

Last night Seattle went ahead in the 11th minute and Armand caught Zakuani's quick pass in to Jaqua that led to the goal.

Armand took the time to catch his breath along with Chivas USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton, and in the process to snap a beautiful shot of the Tukwila sunset.

He caught a mugshot of a smiling, cautiously happy owner Joe Roth.

He put us in the middle of a noisy group of Sounders drummers.

See Armand's gallery below, and Morrison's gallery here.
