Chester stadium update

Many Philadelphia Union fans are asking the question, "will our stadium be finished in time for the first game?" MLS stadiums usually take around sixteen to eighteen months to complete. And with the Chester Stadium ground-breaking in December of 2008, fans were nervous that the stadium would not be finished by March of 2010.

Recent construction photos have given fans hope. Posted on the Philadelphia Union's fan page on Facebook, new photos reveal that stadium construction has gone vertical. The foundation of the stadium seems to be rising at a fast pace. And, Philadelphia Union Management has revealed that a web cam will be going up in the near future. Things are rolling along fairly quickly, and Union President Tom Veit believes that the stadium will be completed on time. The worst-case scenario would be that Philadelphia would have to play its first few games on the road.

The site of the Chester Stadium will be the most breathtaking of all Philadelphia stadiums. Located directly on the waterfront, it is truly a great site for a stadium. The site looked great at the ground-breaking ceremony. Imagine what it will look like on opening night. People complaining that the stadium will be near the Chester neighborhoods have never been to the stadium site. The Chester Stadium will be clear of any neighborhoods.
