The Young and the Restless and all those rats

Life in Genoa City
Life in Genoa City

Anyone besides me smelling a rat or two in Genoa City these days?

The rodent population in Genoa City has dramatically multiplied in recent days but it is becoming nearly impossible for me to decide which rat I want to keep as a pet or which one I want to see crushed in a trap. Billy, Ryder, Chance and Adam are all up for my GC Rat Trap award, but it has become a challenge to discern the friendly rodent from the one spooking me and pushing my buttons.

Let's start with this character Ryder. Today, Lauren confronted him insisting she had no intentions of letting him off the hook if he hurt anyone in her family or anyone close to her for that matter.  This girl is a tiger who could easily eat rats for breakfast without blinking. She is a mother defending her cubs and the den husband tiger Michael might relax in once every two years when he is not in the middle of dealing with impending litigation. The girl can smell a rat a mile away.

After her confrontation with Ryder, Lauren shows up at Fenmore's to relieve Daisy to close her shop.  Daisy leaves and Lauren hears a noise.  Almost immediately she  witnesses a huge black rat cruising underneath the racks displaying her designer creations.  Daisy returns to pick up a scarf she left behind and when Lauren tells her rat story she mentions to Daisy she believed she saw Ryder (from the back) just prior to getting to Fenmore's.  Lauren wants to call an exterminator immediately, but Daisy insists she should not overlook the possibility that the same person who sent her a dead rat at Amber's wedding is also the same person who planted a rat in her store.

Time to get to the rat runner ups. Adam, Billy and even Chance can be easily placed in the rodent category.  Adam's relationship with Sharon is driving me nuts, Chole's domestic bliss with Chance remains suspect to say the least and just doesn't ring true for me and the fact that Billy is scrambling around attempting to rat out just about anyone with his Restless Style poisonous pen is another issue for me.  Chance is another entire story in my book. He simply sounds too good to be true.

Despite all the turmoil in Genoa City these days, I have just decided which rat is my favorite.  I could toss Adam, Ryder and Chance into the GC trap (not sure if they have a hardware store in that town) but Billy is for sure my favorite rat. He's no prize but he's easy on the eyes, has a great personality and I can understand his overall dysfunction.  He was as much of a snooze with new Mac as Chloe is with Chance. I suspect Billy and Chloe will eventually end up together but they just might have to learn how to do that infamous Nikki/Victor dance for years before they ever get it right.

Ryder, Chance and Adam can be tossed into a rap as far as I am concerned. You think any of them would enjoy a dollup of Daisy before the trap snaps?

I just can't bring myself to toss Billy at this point. For now, Billy Abbott is my favorite pet rat in Genoa City and I will happily take care of him until Chloe comes back for him.
