The much hyped wedding between Bianca (Eden Riegel) and Reese (Tamara Braun) has been heralded as a landmark event by many. The marriage of the lesbian couple is indeed groundbreaking in terms of television broadcasting but the fact remains that we will barely get to see the honeymoon stage of this marriage if the wedding actually does take place because it's been widely reported that Riegel is opting out of her short contract but ABC wants Braun to remain.
So, if Riegel is exiting and Braun is staying they have to give the actor something to do, right? All spoilers indicate that Reese who has lately become conflicted because of her attraction to Bianca's brother-in-law (Zach) will share a kiss with him the night before the wedding. This wrinkle in the otherwise romantic storyline between the lesbian lovers who also share a child together has lit up soap opera message boards around the Internet with extra activity and passionate comments. Allegedly Ryan witnesses that kiss and will in turn become conflicted over whether or not to share what he saw with Bianca.
This wedding setback becomes even more convoluted given the fact that Zach, the guy bringing out conflicted feelings in Reese was the sperm donor who allowed her and Bianca to share a child together. This seems to be a huge turnoff for fans of the 'Rinks' saga who have already witnessed almost evey relationship Bianca has had disintegrate because of the conflicted partners she's been involved with in the past.
The wedding might be a landmark event but because fans already know Riegel isn't sticking around and Reese is attracted to Zach, it simply translates into the same old soaps stuff. I say get the 'sperm donor' out of the picture and bring on Guiding Light's "Otalia."
ABC can hardly follow their groundbreaking lesbian wedding with a landmark lesbian divorce right out of the gate--or can they? Most of us have seen our share of 'quickie' divorces on the soaps and we deal with it. We just didn't want to see one here.
Riegel and Braun have been terrific in their portrayal of the star crossed lesbian lovers and it's just sad we will be robbed of seeing them enter into marriage with their ready made family for some decent period of time. I wanted to know what you think the end result of "Rinks" will be and more importantly, I'd like to see how you feel about the situation as it stands right now. Please share your comments below.
In the meantime, enjoy the video below of Bianca and Reese trying on their wedding dresses with Erica and Opal looking on. It's a fun show segment.

My compliments on this writting.
I live in the Netherlands and I follow this so called groundbreaking lovestory between Reese and bianca through the internet. The first two months both characters had good scenes together but since the beginning of this year the spoilers lead us to Reese being confused about her sexuality (which in my opinion has not been acted out yet).

The first two months both characters had good scenes together but since the beginning of this year the spoilers lead us to Reese being confused about her sexuality (which in my opinion has not been acted out yet and it's not something I seeand believe). They ruined a wonderful lovestory between two women and what better way to do it again, by throwing in a man. Realy, do they pay these writers for this story becuase it has been told over and over again. Probably because it's the fantasy of most men, turning a beautiful woman straight. Groundbreaking would be if they let Reese be who she is. A lesbian, out and pround after being in the closet for her whole life and finally strong enough to stand up for herself.
The wedding should been the highlight but how can you take it seriously when they will break up the next day. This wedding lost it's meaning and is hurting the LGBT community and that breaks my heart.
I applaud Eden and Tamara for showing us, when they had the chance, this wonderful loving same sex couple / family. For the first time in soap history I could connect to a storyline because it shows a family just like mine.
I would have really loved for Bianca to get her happy ending and AMC has disappointed again. To follow through with this is a slap in the face of all the Bianca fans. We are basically being told "Here is your wedding" and the story is anything but romantic.
I agree with the Bring on Otalia comment. That story is playing out slowly and is being written extremely well. There were other options for Bianca, but yet again, AMC has failed to recognize her importance and the popularity Eden Riegel.
There is nothing groundbreaking about the turn of events in this so called 'lesbian' relationship. I mean really?..putting a man in between them to confirm Reese's sexuality? NO. This is just another mockery of the LGBT community. ABC lost a great opportunity. Maybe CBS will take notes and get it right with Otalia. I am so over this! Hats off to Eden and Tamara though...no wonder Eden is leaving.
Clem, Anna and Jingiav: Thanks so much for the insightful comments. It's sad that "Rinks" ended up where they are. I had high hopes for this pairing and I think many people believe this situation is the reason Eden has decided to leave the show.
I am one of those commenters who have "lit up" the message boards with rather passionate comments--I've done more posting for this topic than I have in a long time.
As a fan of AMC and Bianca since 2000, I was really looking forward to this storyline--but it turned out to be a total disappointment. When the AMC promo for February aired, showing the kiss between Reese/Zach, that was my cue to quit AMC altogether. I've enjoyed Eden and Tamara playing these characters, but it does not make up for the narrowminded and offensive writing that has surfaced with this SL. The "confused sexuality" SL has been done endlessly on this show, and the actresses and fans were promised this time would be different.
You want to be truly groundbreaking, Mr. Pratt? Then have the guts and creativity to give Bianca a relationship that doesn't repeat the same story. I don't see how anyone can take this story as groundbreaking when (according to spoilers) it will be immediately annuled.

Typical end to a same sex relationship; girl meets girl, falls in love, only to have one of them leave for a a man. I have yet to see a single lesbin relationship end "happily ever after". Groundbreaking? Not even close. Just more of the same bigoted writing. Eden and Tamara were wonderful to watch while it lasted. This is one fan who will be tuning out permanantly.
Hi Ruraljuror - I am glad you chose to post passionately here. I am also glad I wrote this article because it has generated some brilliant commentary. I read one piece where the writer felt that the gay and lesbian community should applaud this relationship. The writer then went on to say that all that community wants is equality and this is a soap after all, so that's what happens on a soap. While that may be true to a degree--I am sure when the first sex scene occurred on the soaps between heterosexuals, the ending of the the relationship wasn't so abruptly delivered.
Thanks for your comments and stay tuned because I might do more on the "Rinks" situation soon.
Hi Kate - Riegel and Braun were terrific in their roles as you mentioned. Thanks for your comments. I wish I could tune out right along with you, but my job demands I keep watching. I hear you about the guy rushing in to save the girl who loves the other girl. It's just sad!
it's sad that breece's story have to end this way,i'm gay and will not be watching the so called wedding!i, have my morals and will not partake in a bogus sl.er/tb are amazing can't say much for amc.
mc-Thanks for the post. I am straight and I feel the same way--only--as mentioned before--I have to keep watching because this is the topic I cover. I love that you referred to 'Rinks" as 'Breece" - very original. I can only tell you to hang in there. While AMC may have let us all down, Guiding Light might be able to break us out of this mold with their Olivia and Natalia. We can only hope. Thanks for speaking out.
I am unbelievably disappointed. I played hookie from work one day and stumbled across Tamara Braun on AMC. One look into those brown eyes and I completely melted. So, needless to say, I caught myself up and DVR'd from that day on. So far, the storyline has been great...I can even deal with Reese kissing Zach. However, ending the relationship with Bianca taking off for Paris and leaving Reese behind is so unfair. I'm invested in this storyline and this couple, and to kill it off so abrubtly after one drunken indiscretion (which does not result in sex) is a slap in the face.
...and speaking of slaps in the face...I don't understand why the writers seem so caught on the idea of having to put a label on Reese. Gay or bisexual...who cares? What difference does it really make? I can't seem to put a label on myself either. I believe that you fall in love with a person, not a gender.
If Reese has feelings for Zach, so be it. Who could blame her? He is the only character that she hasn't had to defend herself to. Since the beginning, she's had to defend her sexuality and her integrity...to everyone but Zach. Except that all of her scenes with Zach revolve around hearing how much she loves Bianca.
So...what is the solution? Recast the role of Bianca. Give Tamara Braun whatever she wants to keep her and give us a storyline.
AMC would be foolish to alienate is new legion of "open minded" viewers...especially when the word CANCELLATION keeps popping up in the press.

I am disappointed as well with this AMC storyline. GL's Otalia storyline looks very promising. Crystal Chappell and Jessica Leccia have been beyond amazing, and I predict CC will get an emmy. This sl has been almost a year in the making (google otaliafan's youtube channel to see their clips, over 43,000 hits so far!!)
It really makes me envious. but also feel proud on the other hand. As we know, we LGBT are often regarded as special people. many bisexual friends of mine at SeekBi dotcom know this and also have experienced. But whenever seeing this news about LGBT we can get more encourage immediately.
Otalia, Otalia, Otalia. That's ALL I have to say.
Maggie--I hear you! Hi Janeqing - great comment and hang on to that encouragement. Alli - I have adored Cystal Chappell's work for years. She can tackle any storyline and thanks for the Google tip! Thanks to all for your comments.
I've started watching GL again thanks to the beautifully executed Olivia/Natalia storyline, which I caught up with on youtube. Go Otalia!
Elvira - glad you caught up on Otalia! It's great story telling for sure!
Wake up, America! Teaching these type of homo-sexual actions is going to send "all our children" stright to HELL! God hates SIN and this is SIN! This is a tuff message and takes courage to share, out of love! God is REAL and the punishment for SIN is HELL. Deny yourselves, repent and trust in Chirst. He WILL save you!
It's ok...when you supporters reach Heaven, you can explain your "acceptance" of this behavior to God. It is NOT ok, and for all of you who want to say that I am judging, I am NOT judging - I am clearly telling fact. Read your Bibles and tell me where it says two women or two men are approved for marriage.
Also, you can all join Oprah as she will tell you that there isn't just one way to the Father. You can all comfort yourselves in Hell as you are doing here on earth.
Bianca belongs with Maggie Stone. The Reese and Bianca "love story" has been terrible from the beginning. That's all I have to say there.
I am straight and I tuned in to see if AMC could pull off this story without making a joke out of it and I was right this is a big joke but at least Eden Riegel got to make some quick money!

Hi Dense - I love your comment, but I think Riegel was never in this for the money. I am hearing she didn't like this storyline anymore than we did. Ahhh Veria - weren't Bianca and Maggie the best? Thanks to both of you for stopping by.
bianca belongs to resse
Hey Laura do you follow EVERYTHING in the Bible or just parts? I would bet a million dollars that you only follow what you want to follow. Besides, do your research on the Bible. It's been translated from language to language and many books have been added and removed. You are judging. Who gave you that right? If you really are a Christian you wouldn't judge. I thought Jesus taught acceptance. After all we are all God's creations. No one chooses to be gay anymore than one chooses to be straight. Judge not lest ye be judged. Come back when you get off that high horse you're riding on. One more thing....if you don't like it, don't watch and troll somewhere else.
