'All My Children' - give me a break

Courtesy - ABC

While All My Children has honestly been a fun ride for me for years, I am now totally lost on where this show is going.  The extended dragged out "Stu-Murder" mystery is driving me up a wall.  On top of all of this, the totally irritating promo ABC continues to run about the real murderer being revealed has been way over done and frankly, it's turning my hair gray.

Emma's infamous "shoot him" line followed by her piercing scream is getting on my nerves in that promo these days. To say the least. it's bad enough to have to watch the show for a living but when that tired promo shows up on while I am watching my other ABC soaps, it's just too much.

Emma has managed to deliver some of the best acting talent I have seen on this show for a very long time.  This little blond starlet is too amazing for words.  She has a the unique gift of interpreting an honest reaction to a mother and a father who clearly possess marginalized parenting skills.  Those very parenting skills have been fueled by their separate agendas to get what they want.  It is driving me straight up the wall and back down again.

I am honestly hoping Emma will never become a victim of SORAS because I would love to this gifted little actress grow up on this show. I am putting her on my holiday gift list.  I don't doubt for one second that both Annie and Ryan love Emma, but that love has placed the little one between a rock and a hard place.  In short, this kid will never get out of therapy.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I am just frankly tired of Kendall looking so perfect on the run, Zach abandoning his casino to trap Annie in order to save Kendall, Jesse being this over the top cop who routinely ignores all law enforcement procedures, Erica attempting to become a Pine Valley Cougar, and, you don't even want me to get started on Krystal, Ryan or Angie.

Everyone seems lost in the Valley these days.  This show was up there in terms of ratings for many years, but lately it has been painful to watch.  I am sure the producers and writers have something amazing in their minds as they plan to wrap up this murder mystery, but it better represent a good ending because it's been a tiring journey lately.

Give me a break All My Children. I want my old AMC back and I simply wish there was a vineyard in the valley so I could simply stomp on the grapes I Love Lucy style to take the edge off.  I so need a Myrtle Merlot about now and I was wondering if anyone else out there gets where I am coming from.

I stopped watching the show years ago for the reasons you state. I guess nothing has changed in Pine Valley. Now I know I am not missing anything, thanks.

You are definitely not alone Mary..Not only are we stuck watching that stupid promo on ABC they even show it on Lifetime and the E network as well..Give me a break!! I'm one of those fools who go back to AMC from time to time hoping that maybe just maybe it has gotten better..unfortunately it hasn't..I thought the writers finally were getting a clue when they started to pair Tad with Taylor..I would have actually put up with all of the other crazy Valley people if that had happened..but alas TPTB changed their minds. I won't comment on what I think of Crystal, Ryan or that insufferable Kendall.. I agree with you Mary regarding the little girl who plays Emma, she's quite the little actress. Of course whenever I hear the name Emma I think of Jacqueline Tsirkin that wonderful little actress who played Emma on Guiding Light....Hopefully this storyline will finally end this week and that dumb promo will finally stop being shown.

This show has become a nightmare. How can the writers and executive producers keep their jobs as they piece by piece decimate a once-great series. They have even ruined Erica, making her a craven, pathetic woman. Please fire the writers and producers and bring in some people who actually know something about the show's history and being both funny and dramatic!

Lord have mercy! AMC is horrible these days. Bring back more Cortlands, Chandlers, Martins, and for goodness sake - BROOKE ENGLISH!!

Finally, why in the heck is Dr. Hayward living in Demitri's and Edmund's Wildwind?!

I doubt the writers even know who Demitri is. Brooke was far too normal for Pine Valley in the land of the lost as it exists today.

In the good old days the writers would never kill off starring a character unless the actor who portrayed him or her was dead. This Stuart fiasco is unforgivable. He was the last nice, kind person in Pine Valley. Brooke was banished. What I would give to have a good Brooke Erica fight right about now, or to have Erica interacting with men her own age. Or to see Petey Cortland!!

OMG - I could NOT agree w/you more!!!! I only 1/2 watch it these days while I'm doing my chores around the house, it's on, but doesn't have my full attention. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the stars on soap cruise this year to pick their brains on what they think, etc. Should be a fun trip. In the mean time I'll keep doing my chores around the house until they figure out where this is going & it gets interesting again!! Great post!

You are so totally right about AMC. Please put all of us out of our misery. I can only think that the writing has gone haywire because of their moving to California. Some of these actions will surely come up once the move has taken place, but they're killing the soap and US in the meantime. Let us keep watching ABC if you want us to continue to watch you after your move.

I've been watching since day one....almost 40 years. I'm ashamed of this show right now. I grimace when I watch.....hoping it will get better. But it's getting worse. New writers please!!!!!!!!! Today the killer was to be revealed, but als.....not it's tomorrow, come on.....we've suffered long enough thru this. And they wonder why the ratings are down.

I started watching AMC in 1972, used to tape it everyday to watch after work. I stopped watching after 9/11 because it seemed so silly to be watching a soap after that tragedy. I started watching again in 2007 after I retired. I don't know why I bothered to watch again because it is so boring these days. The story lines drag out sooooo long and they've been sooooo moronic. PLEASE give us some stories we can sink our teeth into!

I also agree with the other comments, but I have been with this show (and no others) so long--since Day One--that it's hard to stop watching and hoping it will turn around. I live about 3 miles from where the new studio for AMC will be, and am looking forward to AMC/ABC getting it's act together and realizing that there is still a market for this soap, despite losing Dixie (what an incredible bonehead move) and Zach (the best male lead ever), but time's ticking.....
