WordPress for Windows Phone 7 now available

The Charlotte metropolitan area includes over 1.7 million people. It's no surprise that there are thousands of active bloggers in the area since the first real 'news' blog was a series of posts on Hurricane Bonnie by the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Dube in 1998. One downside to Charlotte's size and density is that many bloggers must carry around a heavy laptop or an odd-size netbook (too big to pocket, too small to type comfortably). Fortunately, smartphones have proven themselves in the field for writers on the go.

The newest tool in the Charlotte blogger's arsenal is WordPress for Windows Phone 7 (WP7). Android, Blackberry and iOS devices already have full function WordPress apps, and Nokia just received a new app from WordPress as well. This new addition for WP7 completes the offering for writers on the go. New users will find the application simply laid out and easy to use. One of the interesting design features is the panoramic layout of the screens. Like the seven scrolling home screens on Android-based phones, a user can swipe left and right to have other screens appear in the WP7 WordPress program. The visuals are in line with the minimalist design of the rest of WP7 and additional features are promised in the future.
