With New Year’s Eve quickly approaching, AT&T has released a documentary about the dangers of texting while driving. It may sound trivial when compared to DUI accidents, but it is a growing issue. Downtown Charlotte offers the First Night celebration, an alcohol-free, family friendly party for New Year’s. However, driving home from the event can still be quite dangerous due to the risk of an accident caused by a distracted driver. One of the primary distractions today is the ubiquitous cell phone.
AT&T’s ten minute documentary points out that over 5,000 people died due to distracted driving last year and the majority of those were teenagers. The company has a Facebook page, a YouTube channel, and their own home page. If you’re a driver and a cell phone user, take the time to watch “The Last Text” as soon as you can.
