The next time you see men in white coats entering your neighbor’s home, you might want to do a double-take before assuming the worst. They could have a plumbing problem.
That’s the trademark look of plumbers who work for Rooter MD Plumbing of Livonia. The concept is based on owner Pete Wood’s desire to be a little different and expand on the legacy that his grandfather started with the business – a legacy that he has enjoyed carrying on. But in the process, he changed the company name and direction.
“I wanted to create a brand in this plumbing business that would make a positive memorable experience – and to become an icon in the community,” Wood said. With his recent register federal trademark “Plumbing Headaches Cured Today” his plumbers wear lab coats and carry a small diagnostic bag. At first Wood said the idea was to have fun changing the image of the plumber from the exposed rear end, i.e. “butt crack,” to the Doctor of Plumbing.
When customers call the office a receptionist answers the phone, “For plumbing headaches cured today this is Jon at RooterMD Plumbing. How may I help you?” Rooter MD Plumbing was a name that Wood spun off the idea that they were restoring the health of plumbing systems. “Rooter MD Plumbing is a very unique plumbing company in the fact that they work with resins and epoxies and create stints that go into drains to restore the condition to new,” he added. “This is similar in the medical industry to a doctor putting in a stent.
The plumbing techs at RooterMD Plumbing use a high pressure “Hydro Jetter” to scour a drain pipe or system, which Wood said is the same logic as a doctor performing angioplasty on their patients. “If need be we can install a new pipe in the old without digging or ruining your landscape and or your yard,” Wood added.
When other plumbing companies are feeling the impact of a tough economy RooterMD Plumbing is growing in a positive professional direction changing the image of the plumber to a higher level and truly become an icon in the industry. Wood added, “I am proud to create a legacy and image that will change the way the community looks at the plumber and the industry.”
