Since the invention of the modern newspaper in the 1600's, customers have had access to information about new businesses, products, openings and closings, and other business information in black and white. Metroseen, a new Boulder-based business, is giving businesses a more vibrant and comprehensive way to introduce themselves to customers using online videos. According to Mark Montalbano, founder of Metroseen, the three minute vignettes are made to be fun and interesting, utilizing testimonials and up-close footage of products and services. Montalbano says this format "make(s) a business' story come alive."

Metroseen hosts the videos online so customers will find them when searching for local businesses. In addition to optimizing their website for local searches, they market participating businesses and other local information via social media platforms. One of Metroseen's clients, Patty Ross, confirms that Metroseen is always promoting the video they made for her business, Clutter, via Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Metroseen is most interested in encouraging community members to shop local. In describing the company philosophy, Montalbano states, "Without the uniqueness of these locally owned places, we wouldn't have our own individual flavor as a city. Therefore, our aim is to showcase them in a way that will intrigue and interest people to want to go to these places!" At the Metroseen website, businesses can learn more about getting a video produced, and consumers can watch videos on various local businesses, including Savory Spice Shop and Spruce Confections.

Online Video is the next innovation of marketing, but be sure that you are communicating the benefits of your service/product and not its features. You'll get more clients/customers with less costs to attract them. My recommendation is to keep a promo video to about 1 minute in length.
