- Having a good outside seal around the windows is crucial to energy efficiency. Getting this done before it gets too cold.
- Caulk all the corners and gaps. The off colored part is some filler used to fill a hole.
- Always look for panes of glass that need to be replaced.
- Using a hair dryer to heat and loosen the glaze. I found that an actual heat gun works much better.
- Some holes that need to filled with a good wood filler.
- Be careful scraping away the glaze next to the glass. It is very easy to overdue it and crack the glass.
- Scraping away all the loose paint and caulk.
- Unscrewing the screws that hold the storm window. Don't drop the screws...or the window.
