I bought a '49 Buick Special a couple of months ago which was purchased new here at Christensen Chevrolet-Buick. It still has the original paint, interior, spare tire, and also the purchase order showing all the options. It was purchased by two sisters named Lelia and Pearl Buss on 12-16-48. Thanks for posting this photo. I'm trying to acquire as much info as I can on this car so if you have any more pics or info on this dealership or if you want to see some pics of my car feel free to contact me at dave314@bellsouth.net. By the way, are you the same Craig whose father worked at this dealership from 1950 to 1970? There was a posting on the Hemmings site by someone named Craig who mentioned that. I'd like to find a dealer tag or license plate frame to put on the car if possible. I already tracked down the second owner who owned the car from 1975-2005. He sent me a picture taken on Christmas Day 1948 showing his future wife and himself-both 19 at the time-with the Buick in the background. They're both 81 now....
I hunted around for some time to come to your dealership photos. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I'm sure the chances of you coming across a Matthews Hargreaves dealership photo from the fifties are about as good as mine. I have 1958 chevrolet biscayne, my wife and I got married in that car. It came out of a Matthews Hargreaves in Pontiac Michigan, which is now a Jon Lunghamer Chevrolet dealership. Keep an eye out thanks
