- Action #1:<p> Do not swim while sick with diarrhea. The germs that cause diarrhea can live in a properly maintained pool for up to 10 days.<p> Indianapolis requires city pool users to wait 14 days before swimming after being sick, especially if they have had diarrhea. <p> (photo by Scott Snyder)
