I think that they should base the next model on the design from the 60s. The one from the 60s and 70s is a lot manlier than the one from 1998. But im glad that the new 2012 model is a little better looking.
I like the 2011 Beetle, hopefully I can afford to buy one! It does look a little more manly, my husband will appreciate that! He hides the "flower" when he drives my 1998 and 2003. I will only purchase manual transmissions, hopefully the 2011 comes with one.
I do not like the looks of the new Beetle. I was all set to purchase a bug this year and found VW wasn't taking any new orders until the new Beetle came out. I can't stand the look of the new Beetle. I liked the large windows in the previous model. So I guess I'll have to pass and look for another kind of car.
I love my 2001 VW New Beetle. I think the main attraction of the Beetle is it's "round" look. That's what makes it unique! To flatten the roof is stupid - then it looks too similar to the rest of the boring looking cars out there. I live in Ohio and we've had a bit more snow than usual this year. Because of my car's round design, it is SO MUCH EASIER to clean off the snow than the other cars/trucks we've owned. Just washing it is faster because of the round design. The huge windshield is wonderful in all the New Beetles EXCEPT for the 2011. After getting used to the large windshield and the huge view of everything, all other cars make me feel too confined. I was going to buy a new 2011 VW New Beetle for myself this year, and give my 2001 VW New Beetle to my teenage son. When I saw the "new look" of the 2011, I said "forget it, I hate it." I'm going to wait until 2012, and hopefully, they will have gone back to the round look by then. If not, I'll either buy a 2010 model or older, or another type of car altogether.
I really love the old style of the bug. I would like to have a new one but I'm understanding the style will be changing. Hope I really love the new style too.
I love the "older" new Beetle (1998-2010). This new Beetle is hardly recognizable. Just as Volvo got ride of its cool boxy design, VW is loosing its Beetles curves...... May blend with every Toyota, Hyundai, Honda etc on the road :(

you are stupid and flat
Please stick with the original rounded bug look of the Beetle! This is what makes the Beetle unique! Thanks!
