- A champion in whose eyes? These dazed and tired dogs? This March 18, 2009 AP photo shows Lance Mackey with his lead dogs Larry, right, and Maple after crossing the finish line of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Nome, Alaska. The 38th running of the infamous Iditarod sled dog race kicks off amid depleted finances that have slashed the cash purse. May it will eventually become extinct.
- Iditarod supporters attribute increasing fast race times to better equipment, but critics say the increased times are because dogs are being pushed to excess. The 1973 race took 20 days; the 2002 race took eight day. The dogs inbred desire to please their mushers is the key success and the dogs demise.
- This photo from HelpSledDogs.org shows a dog---dead, unconscious, or injured---being dragged by other dogs in a quest to please at all costs. The musher may be sleep or given new drug testing rules, passed out??
