- August 5- Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Great reviews and great effects make this a must-see. Plus, it's KILLER APES.
- August 5- Bellflower. Might not make it to Jax, but this edgy and raw indie got raves at Sundance.
- August 5- The Whistleblower. Rachel Weisz is reliably good, ad she headlines a great cast with an interesting and relevant thriller premise.
- August 10- The Help. Wednesday release shows the studio has confidence that this crowd-pleaser with a fine cast could be this year's feel-good Oscar bait.
- August 12- 30 Minutes or Less. Zombieland was grossly underrated, and take that witty director with this hilarious cast, and you have what might be one of the best comedies of the year.
- August 19- One Day. This romance boasts a best-selling story and the ever-hot Anne Hathaway. Bring a lady and some Kleenex to this one.
- August 26- Colombiana. Luc Besson made La Femme Nikita, and he's trying to strike gold twice with this action flick starring the very hot Zoe Saldana.
- August 26- Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark. Advance word is this movie, from the brain of Guillermo Del Toro, is supposed to be scary as hell. You've been warned.
- August 26- Our Idiot Brother. An R-rated comedy with a hilarious cast headlined by Paul Rudd? Where do I sign up?
- August 31- The Debt. An Oscar-caliber cast with the director of Shakespeare In Love and a great screenwriter. It's been delayed, so keep hopes low, but it can't be all bad... can it?
- August 19- Conan The Barbarian. Yes, I know this is #11. I don't expect it to be good. But Jason Momoa is sooo cool as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones that I want to see him slice people up some more.
