- Tara VanDerveer and Tennessee's Pat Summitt are two of the five women's coaches who have 800 career wins.
- VanDerveer got Stanford to the Final Four for the fourth straight year this season
- VanDerveer calls some players "situational" players. Melanie Murphy (left) did not play much last season or this season, but she got extensive minutes in last year's NCAA championship game and this year's semifinals.
- Besides the Naismith Award, VanDerveer was also named national coach of the year by two other organizations this season.
- Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stinger is another member of the 800-win club.
- VanDerveer had to shuffle the lineup a few times early in the season before the team hit its stride on its way to 33 wins.
- VanDerveer's Cardinal won 27 straight games this season, including a 12-point win over Connecticut to end the Huskies' 90-game win streak.
- VanDerveer won the Naismith national coach of the year award for the first time since 1990, the year Stanford won its first national title.
- VanDerveer will have to replace seniors Jeanette Pohlen and Kayla Pedersen next season, and that will require some deft coaching maneuvering.
- Despite getting to the Final Four nine times under VanDerveer, the Cardinal has not won it all since 1992.
