- Brad Delp, the lead guitarist and singer of Boston, committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning in 2007. He left a suicide note that read, I am a lonely soul. Delps fiance' told police that he had been depressed for some time, feeling emotional (and) bad about himself.
- Ray Combs succeeded Richard Dawson in 1988 as the Family Feud host, but after he was fired in 1994, he suffered a near-fatal car accident, marital problems, financial ruin and deteriorating mental and physical health as a result of his accident. He hung himself with bedsheets while receiving treatment at a hospital psychiatric ward at the age of 40.
- Dana Plato, 34, died in Oklahoma in 1999 from a drug overdose. Plato had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and legal problems, including arrests for armed robbery and forging prescriptions.
- Herve Villechaize, "Tattoo" from "Fantasy Island" who suffered from dwarfism, shot himself in 1993 at age 50. Villechaize suffered from alcoholism, legal problems and a lagging career, but according to his suicide note, chronic health problems (due primarily to his small size) ultimately caused him to take his own life.
- Margaux Hemingway, 41, died in 1996 from an overdose of sedatives. It was said that she suffered from alcoholism and bulimia.
- Charles Rocket, a former SNL cast member best known for being fired after uttering an obscenity on a live 1981 broadcast, stabbed himself to death in 2005 at age 56. Reasons were never truly known.
- Jonathan Brandis, 27, hanged himself in 2003 for unknown reasons, although some of his friends said he had been depressed about his faltering career.
- Alexander McQueen, an accomplished British fashion designer, was said to have committed suicide just weeks before he was set to unveil his new clothing collection in Paris. He was 40 years old.
- 41-year old Andrew Koenig, best known for playing Mike Seaver's best friend "Boner" on the 80's sitcom Growing Pains was found dead in Vancouver after having been missing for several days. Family say that Koenig suffered from recurring depression.
- Michael Blosil, the 18-year old son of Marie Osmond, took his own life after a battle with what friends and family members describe as severe depression.
- Kurt Cobain, of the band Nirvana, killed himself at the age of 27 with a self inflicted gunshot blast on April 5, 1994.
- When Sigmund Freud decided the time was right, 16 years after being diagnosed with mouth cancer from smoking, he asked Dr. Max Schur to assist him in killing himself by giving him 21 milligrams of morphine. The father of psychoanalysis died within hours of receiving the injection.
- Ernest Hemingway committed suicide on July 2, 1961 in Ketchum, Idaho. He had just been released from a hospitalization at the at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he received shock therapy for severe depression. Hemingway's depression and alcoholism was associated with his eventual death by shooting himself.
- In 1997, Michael Hutchence of INXS was found naked and hanging dead by his leather belt. No suicide note or suspicious circumstances were found. Four hours later, Michaels body was taken by hearse to the Coroner.
