- A great book for deer hunters is Walt Prothero's Mule Deer Hunting Strategies. This is one of the best books on the subject out there. Prothero gives some proven techniques of how to get the big ones, and where to find them. Any deer hunter would be thrilled to add this to his or her collection.
- Utah's Favorite Hiking Trails, by David Day is one of the best all-round books on hiking in Utah, from Utah's slot canyons, to the High Uintas, this book covers many of the best hikes in Utah. Especially good because it gives both difficulty ratings and scenic beauty ratings.
- For the backpacking fan, Trail Food: Drying and Cooking Food for Backpacking and Paddling by Alan S. Kesselheim, is a great read. Says Canoe and Kayak Magazine: " . . . a book that will appeal to everyone who has ever choked down the pre-packaged, bargain-basement camp food (or gone bankrupt buying the good stuff)." The book tells you how to remove water from food, extending its life and making it lighter while keeping the taste.
