- The bench seat is wide enough for a middle passenger, but the armrest makes for an uncomfortable backrest. Also, because the seatbelt buckles can't flop around, you end up sitting on top of your own buckle in the middle position, with the seatbelt wrapped around back under you.
- If the Elantra Touring's armrest were a bit higher on the door, it would be more comfortable. Also, it's well-padded on the side facing the occupant, but not so much on the inside where you actually grip the door handle or on the top where you actually rest your arm.
- The Elantra Touring's large windshield offers very good rear visibility, and the rear wiper can reach most of the glass area, unlike the Scion xD (bottom).
- The view out of the rearmost side windows is constricted, however; styling overtook functionality in this aspect of the car's design.
