- Only a few months after Sepideh was born, Enayat & Soraya Moafi left Germany and moved with their daughters Setareh & Sepideh to the United States and eventually settlled in Mountain View, CA, where Sepideh graduated in 2003 from Los Altos High School which has a highly renowned performing arts program. - At Los Altos H.S., Moafi developed her gifts & talents. She said, "In order to fulfill my fine arts requirement in high school, I joined the chorus. The choral director, Mark Shaull asked me to stay & vocalize with him one day after class. It was then that told me I had enormous potential & encouraged me to pursue singing. He then placed me in the advanced choirs including the renowned Main Street Singers. He completely changed my life."

- Moafi became a powerful vocalist after Shaull referred her to Page Swift, a soprano performer with the SF Opera. On her memories of Swift, Moafi recalls, "Page was not only such a wonderful & supportive voice teacher, but she was a true friend. Before leaving for the conservatory, she left me her library of books including scores, acting, poetry & art books. What inspired me most about her was how hard she worked. I admire & miss her so much."

- Italian Mirella Freni is renowned in opera as one of the best singers and is one of Moafi's favorite artists. Moafi described Freni this way, "I think it's safe to say she (Freni) is my all-time favorite soprano. I marvel at her legato, the control she has over her instrument, the gorgeous timbre of her voice. Throughout her career she sang such a wide range of repertoire & was able to color her voice and interpretations to fit them all."

- On preparing for a performance, Sepideh Moafi explained her process, "I work on my stuff, constantly. When I'm off stage, I take voice lessons, I read, do yoga, & dance. It's my responsibility as a performer to prepare on my own time, away from rehearsals. Rehearsals aren't just from 10-5pm or whatever, at least not for me. I rehearse for rehearsal so that I can get the most out of working with my cast and director. It's very consuming."
- " What drives me is my passion: my desire to feed this insatiable appetite I have for working and doing what I love. The most important thing to me is to always be truthful in what I do, both on and off stage," exclaimed Sepideh Moafi on what motivates and drives her in life. Photo by Percival Arcibal.
