Creating the flap will take some ingenuity. First make chains in these lengths: 26, 22, 18, 14, 10, 6 and 2 links. Stitch together as previously done on both sides, as per picture. One end will not finish neatly. Here is where you need to improvise with extra materials to finish the end.

- Line up the flap on one side of the purse and stitch inside and out.
- Create a crease by folding flap over to front side of purse.
- Add sticky back Velcro to inside of flap and front of purse.
- Create two chains of 70 links each. Stitch them together to give the strap added strength. Other materials such as leather or chain straps can be substituted.
- Stitch strap to sides of purse. At this point, coating the purse with an extra coat of Polyurethane will give it added durability.
