Bead Rider beaded seat: A+
Only $30, this was the star of the show. Through blazing heat to a thorough soaking from a wild thunderstorm, my butt was the only part of my body that never hurt, not even once. Going touring? Buy one now.

- MotoFizz Seat Bag from AeroStich: A+ Many tailbags have come and gone, but this one is a keeper. Access from both ends plus the top avoids rummaging. The protected, built-in stuff sack makes a great laptop carrier, and the external end pockets are ideal for cameras, cell phones, and stuff you need quickly. Rain gear tied to the top easily and it even has a special pocket for my Diet Coke bottle. The eight possible attachment points kept it rock solid on the bike. Despite (over)stuffing it, no problem with zippers, seams, or tie downs. Perfectly designed and built like a fortress.
- TechNiche Evaporative Cooling Vest: B. On the plus side, this works remarkably well when the mercury bursts over 90, making the ride cool and pleasant when the world around you is anything but. Cons: Doesn't last more than 60-90 minutes, soaking bag sprung leaks the first day, no directions about optimum soak time. Gotta give it props for great design, though.
- Fammz A20 armored shorts: D. Fit well under jeans, but has wimpy armor that dug into sensitive places after a couple hours in the saddle.
- Chicane tank bag hydration: F. Great idea, but the tube and mouthpiece won't fit inside a full face helmet. Pointless.
- Icon Field Armor - Leg: C. Fits great and is so easy to wear you forget it's there. But strapping it on securely cut off circulation in my legs.
- Yoshimura SCS Mesh Gloves: B. Great gloves, good air flow, no signs of wear, but they fit a little bit snug for all day use. Your mileage may vary.
- Fieldsheer Hi-Temp Mesh Jacket: A. Air flow met expectations, armor is first class and plentiful, hook and loop still works, even withstood a washing. The liner is well made and works down to the low 50's. Remove the liner near 80. Find shade near 90. Some seams showing a little wear.
