- Saturday, December 17 protesters gathered outside Lowe's in Allen Park, Michigan. Protesters accuse Lowe's of bigotry for not sponsoring a television show.
- Many signs, such as the one on the right, bear the logo of People for the American Way. Rather than being an organic movement, Saturday's protest was part of a national protest with specific cultural goals.
- Some women were seen in head scarfs. They were positioned in the most conspicuous locations, such as the entrance. This appearance contrasted, however, with the speakers and organizers.
- A counter protester. Unlike several protesters, the counter protesters were not heard using disparaging terms for the other side.
- Protesters totaled 100 or less.
- Pastor Charles Williams Sr. from King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit was a key speaker. The church is where Malcolm X gave his "Ballots or Bullets" speech in 1964. The protesters follow much the same reasoning as Malcolm X's.
