- The education plant growth chambers were packed for flight at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
- The student experiment was then lofted to Lower Earth Orbit (LEO), via the Space Shuttle. Astronaut Clay Anderson observed the plant growth inside one of the plant growth chambers on the space station.

- The Ares I and Ares V of the Constellation program are being designed and developed to take flight when the Space Shuttle retires.
