Major General Lafayette visits Shelby, NC to be shown his sign of the street named after him just prior to a speech at The Hatcher Hughes Pulitzer Prize-Winning Playwright Theater in Grover, NC at The Inn of the Patriots. The Marquis is portrayed by the famed Howard Burnham of England. Some people would not agree in arguing with me that in Shelby, NC, Lafayette Street intersects with Washington Street. So I figured the Marquis de Lafayette would appreciate his photograph under the street sign of his adopted father, George Washington. During his visit to Shelby he also saw the streets of Sumter, Marion, Graham, Baron De Kalb and others of his close friends.
