John Ruiz jumping rope. You should notice immediately that he's in great shape already telling me that he weights "about 230 pounds."

- "The Quietman" slipping on his gloves. John confirmed that he is being told his WBA heavyweight title bout with David Haye will be on "April 3rd in London, or Manchester." (Credit: Joe Roche/411mania.com)
- I was probably six feet away from John as he was shadow boxing and that was still too close for me. He let me know that he is "excited" that he won't have to fight Nicolai Valuev again but will instead meet David Haye. "My style will give him...problems so I'm looking forward to it." - I took this picture because I thought it was framed well for the South Boston Boxing Club which is the club that John donated equipment to in 2009. (Credit: Joe Roche/411mania.com)
- Another SBBC advertisement right here as Ruiz continued to shadowbox. On what fans should expect from him against Haye, Ruiz told me "Im going to step it up throw more punches and more a little more then even my last fight." (Credit: Joe Roche/411mania.com)
- You can see a bit more of the SBBC in this picture and you have to admit when you think of a boxing gym isn't this the picture that you have in your mind? Ruiz talked a bit about signing with Golden Boy saying "for us it made sense theyre a Latin based company, and me being the first Latino heavyweight champion you know I think itll be a good team." - I'm always amazed at fighters on the speed bag, especially heavyweights who you don't picture as having great hand speed. Ruiz looked quick here though and never stopped moving his feet. A lot of credit should go to his new trainings Miguel Diaz and former world champion Richie Sandoval. (Credit: Joe Roche/411mania.com)
- John Ruiz has been in the ring with a lot of the top heavyweights in the world and I asked him about some of his former opponents - Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones Jr. and David Tua all still being active. He told me "its all about how you feel, sometimes when youre taking too many hits you need to move on but thank goodness that hasnt happened yet even though Ive lost a couple fights Im still moving forward." - This pictures makes me laugh pretty hard. Me and John were talking about cigars as I know he is a cigar smoker on his down time and this picture just happened to catch us both at a ridiculous time -- I approve all pictures that make me look insane next to a former world heavyweight champion.
