- The famous Whisky A Go-Go nightclub on the Sunset Strip is where Jim Morrison and The Doors were discovered by Jac Holzman of Elektra Records in 1966.
- Barney's Beanery, an historic restaurant on the original Route 66, was a favorite hangout of Jim Morrison.
- Chateau Marmont, the luxurious hotel known for its celebrity clientele, was where Jim Morrison fell off a balcony and broke two ribs in the early 70s.
- The Alta Cienega Motel was where Jim Morrison lived from 1968 to 1970 in room 32.
- In 1968, The Doors set up their offices and rehearsal space ('The Doors Workshop') in this building (now an Italian restaurant) at 8512 Santa Monica Blvd. The Doors' last album, LA Woman, was recorded here.
