- You can make your own pomegranate syrup in small batches
- Bring to a boil 1 cup pomegranate juice and 2 T of sugar
- Simmer juice and sugar for 45 minutes till thickened
- Pomegranate syrup will thicken as it cools
- Use pomegranate syrup as a glaze for meats and vegetables
- For cranberry sauce: dissolve sugar in the dry marsala wine; boil till reduced to 1 cup
- Stir in cranberries
- Add pomegranates if desired
- Boil cranberries till they pop and some dissolve into the wine
- Remove cranberries from heat and add syrup and Italian seasoning
- Top with lemon and/or orange zest
