- Melt and pour soap base is cut into chunks so it will melt more quickly.
- Regular baking sugar is measured so it is ready to add to the melted soap mixture.
- The melt and pour soap base is melted in the microwave or in a double boiler, the liquid oils are added and the mixture is stirred thoroughly.
- Mica and fragrance oil are added and stirred until they are completely incorporated.
- Molds are waiting to be filled. These are plastic clamshells sold for molding a single bar of soap.
- The sugar is added slowly, stirring constantly. Once the sugar is incorporated, the scrub is soft and spoonable in consistency.
- The scrub mixture is spooned into waiting molds, packed tightly, and the surface is smoothed and flattened.
- After they have cooled and solidified, they are unmolded and cut into cubes.
- Cubes are rolled in more sugar to absorb any excess oil.
- The finished cubes should be sealed up tightly in cello bags, screw-top jars, or deli-style plastic tubs so they do not absorb moisture from the air and get soggy.
