- Start with sheets of craft foam in two colors. This 4 x 6 inch picture frame used just 1 4 x 6 inch sheet of each color.
- Cut the foam into one inch squares using scissors or a paper cutter.
- With a permanent marker, draw a dashed "stitch" line around the outside edge of each square.
- Glue a row of one color of squares all the way around the frame. Start at the corners, aligning them carefully, then evenly space the rest of the squares in between.
- Once the glue has dried on the first layer of squares, layer the second color on top of the first, staggering the squares line up evenly. At this point, you could call the frame finished. Or, you can add a flower or other embellishment!
- For a flower, cut a flower shape out of each color, one larger than the other. Draw stitch marks around the outside edge of each piece.
- Glue the smaller flower to the center of the larger flower.
- Glue a bead or button to the center of the flower.
- Use glue to attach the flower to the corner of the picture frame.
